After nearly four decades in college football, Marty English has announced his decision to retire.
Craig Bohl's defensive ends coach spent 12 of his 37 seasons in college football with the Cowboys of Wyoming.
English shared the following in the school's release:
"I love the University of Wyoming, and I absolutely love this football program," said English. "This is not an easy decision for me, but after 37 years it's time for me to spend more time enjoying my wife Suzie, my children and my grandchildren. I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to live in Laramie, and I hope to be at every game. I am super happy with the way I've been treated here the last three years since coming back. I love this place and I love football, but it's time for me to watch my son coach on Friday nights and spend more time with my wife, daughter and grandkids.
Head coach Craig Bohl shares in the school's release that English will wrap up his coaching career in the next few weeks and they will begin a national search for his replacement.
For a career that has spanned so long, English has been a loyal assistant on defense with just two other stops outside of Laramie. He coached in a variety of roles at Northern Colorado (twice) and Colorado State as well, with two different stints at Northern Colorado.
He served as defensive coordinator at Northern Colorado (2000-02 and 2018-19), Colorado State (2012-17), and Wyoming (2009-11).
Please join us in wishing for all the best for coach English in this next chapter of his life.
