Tulsa set to lose defensive coordinator to Big Ten job (Matt Guerrieri)

It happens a handful of times each offseason. A coach takes a new job, only to leave that new job for a newer job.

Indiana is set to hire Matt Guerrieri as its co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach, ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reported Friday night.

That's the same Matt Guerrieri that took the Tulsa defensive coordinator job last month. FootballScoop broke the news of his hiring on Jan. 2.

Guerrieri came to Tulsa with new head coach Kevin Wilson from Ohio State, where he was a senior advisor and defensive analyst. Prior to that, he spent a decade at Duke, starting as a graduate assistant and rising to co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

The irony here, of course, is that Wilson is set to lose his defensive coordinator to the other school where he served as head coach. Wilson spent 2011-16 as the head coach at Indiana, then spent 2017-22 at Ohio State.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
