Dominique Bowman, who’s gone from Memphis, Tennessee-area, high school defensive coordinator to rising-star Power 5 assistant coach in just a few years, is parting ways with the University of Arkansas to pursue additional coaching opportunities, multiple sources tell FootballScoop.
As the Razorbacks have transitioned in recent weeks from the defense of Barry Odom, who departed for the head coaching job as UNLV, to coordinator Travis Williams and co-defensive coordinator Marcus Woodson, Bowman has heard from multiple programs regarding openings and potential openings on their staffs, sources with knowledge told FootballScoop.
A former American Football Coaches Association 35 under 35 honoree, Bowman played collegiately for Hugh Freeze at Lambuth University during Freeze’s nascent college coaching days.
Bowman then further burnished his reputation under record-setting UT-Martin coach Jason Simpson, whose distinguished coaching tree includes numerous Power 5 assistant coaches, multiple coordinators and some NFL assistant coaches; Bowman was UT-Martin’s assistant head coach before he departed to Austin Peay as co-defensive coordinator, returned to Martin in a similar role and then made the leap to Football Bowls Subdivision as a cornerbacks coach at Marshall.
A year ago, Pittman hired Bowman away from the Thundering Herd and named him the Razorbacks’ cornerbacks coach.
