Sources: Ball State to hire FCS assistant as wide receivers coach (marcus knight)

Ball State is set to hire Marcus Knight as the program's wide receivers coach, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday. The move is expected to become official as soon as today.

Knight worked most recently as the wide receivers coach at Indiana State, a post he held since 2019.

Knight coached wideouts in the MAC previously, managing the position on John Bonamego's Central Michigan staffs in 2017-18. He has also coached wide receivers for Northern Michigan and Valparaiso.

A former Wolverine, Knight played three seasons for the Oakland Raiders, one for the Tampa Bay Bucs, and four more in the arena league or NFL Europe. He began coaching immediately following the conclusion of his playing career in 2007.

Knight replaces Alex Bailey, who left for the same position at Colorado State.

Ball State celebrated its first MAC championship in 25 years and its first MAC title game victory in 2020. The Cardinals went 7-1 with an Arizona Bowl victory over No. 19 San Jose State and a No. 23 AP poll year-end ranking, the first in program history.
