Source: Joker Phillips to join Maryland staff (Joker Phillips)

Joker Phillips is set to join Maryland's staff, sources told FootballScoop on Monday.

Phillips spent the past two seasons as the wide receivers coach at Cincinnati, but is best remembered for his 2010-12 stint as the head coach at Kentucky, his alma mater. He went 13-24 in three seasons with one bowl appearance with the Wildcats.

Phillips played wide receiver at Kentucky and briefly in the NFL and CFL before crafting a coaching career, primarily as a wide receivers coach. He has coached the position at Kentucky, Minnesota, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Florida and for the Cleveland Browns.

He will join an offensive staff that consists of offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Scottie Montgomery, running backs coach Elijah Brooks, tight ends coach Mike Miller and offensive line coach John Reagan.
