After moving on from Doug Pederson after five seasons and a Super Bowl title, the Eagles appear to have found their new leader.
Adam Schefter is reporting that the Eagles are hiring Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as their new head coach.
Albert Breer adds that Sirianni was a late addition to the Eagles process and was vacationing in Florida with family this week when he got a request. The Eagles were doing their interviews in Palm Beach, requested an interview with Sirianni and he drove in late Monday night, interviewed Tuesday morning, and now he's the Eagles choice.
Sirianni has been the offensive coordinator in Indy since 2018, and has previously coached on the offensive side of the ball for the Chargers and Chiefs since coming into the NFL in 2009. His coaching career began with the defensive backs at Mount Union (D-III - OH) in 2004.
The ascension to head coach marks another rapid rise in the profession for a former Division III player. Sirianni played his college ball at Division III power Mount Union and new Chargers head coach Brandon Staley played at OAC rival John Carroll (D-III - OH) - a school we just recently crowned "Football Guy U."
The hire means the only remaining head coaching opening in the NFL lies in Houston with the Texans.
