Report: Rams to sign Jeff Fisher to a 3-year extension (Featured)

Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman reportedly Michael Brockers signed a three-year contract extension on Monday, which is big news for head coach Jeff Fisher.

Let John Clayton explain, as he said on the ESPN Radio affiliate this week in Seattle (via SB Nation):

Clayton: The word on the street, I don’t know if they actually put it in one of the...because...they haven’t really put out the Michael Brockers contract extension yet, because I know he just got a contract extension. I think they were gonna put at the bottom of the release that Jeff Fisher signed a 3-year extension.

Host: Are you serious.

Clayton: Yeah. That’s what I’m hearing.

Host: Oh my gosh!

Clayton: But they haven’t put out any release yet.

The Brockers extension hasn't been formally announced yet, so presumably a Fisher announcement would have to come after that. The Rams were reportedly in discussion on a contract extension with Fisher over the summer.

Fisher is in his 21st full season as an NFL head coach, and carries a career record of 169-156-1. He has not won a playoff game since 2003. Now in his fifth season as the Rams' head coach, Fisher is 27-37-1. His teams have gone 7-8-1, 7-9, 6-10 and, yes, 7-9 again. In their first game as the Los Angeles Rams, Fisher's crew lost 28-0 to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.
