Oregon shelves bill that would've suspended coaches for fan behavior (Oregon Bill Suspend Coaches Fan Behavior)

Stick to politics, folks.

Oregon has amended House Bill 2472, which could have suspended the state's coaches and ADs for the actions of fans who β€œengage in the use of derogatory or inappropriate names, insults, verbal assaults, profanity or ridicule in violation of equity focused policies."

Rep. Janelle Bynum said the move was "based on feedback from the committee and from the public." One can only imagine the tone and tenor of that feedback.

Obviously, schools should do everything within their power to curb unruly fan behavior, but it's not the state legislature's place to play judge and jury on how they do so.

Especially considering Oregon's Dan Lanning and Oregon State's Jonathan Smith are busy coaching their teams, not monitoring the behavior of 50,000 people.
