No stranger to the NFL, Peter Sirmon is set for his return to the League.
Sources confirmed to FootballScoop Tuesday afternoon that Sirmon is departing his post as defensive coordinator for Justin Wilcox's Cal Golden Bears program to join Kellen Moore's New Orleans Saints staff.
A former linebacker for the Tennessee Titans after a star career at Oregon, Sirmon has been a fixture on Wilcox's staffs through the years -- going all the way back to their time together on Rocky Top at the University of Tennessee in 2011. Wilcox was the Vols defensive coordinator and Sirmon his linebackers coach.
He is expected to assist the Saints with the franchise’s linebackers.
The Saints hired Moore earlier this month after he helped guide the Philadelphia Eagles to a dominant win against Kansas City in Super Bowl LIX.
In addition to Tennessee, Sirmon has served on staffs at his alma mater, as well as USC and Washington; he had been a part of the Cal staff since 2018, helping guide the program from its former PAC-12 membership into the ACC during the 2024 season.
ESPN and 247Sports's Matt Zenitz first reported the news on Sirmon.
