Darrin Chiaverini will be the head coach at Chaffey College, he announced Monday.
Chaffey College is a two-year school located in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The Panthers went 2-8 in 2022.
A native of nearby Corona, Calif., Chiaverini spent 2022 as an offensive analyst at UCLA.
Chiaverini played wide receiver at Colorado, then spun that into a 4-year career in the NFL and three in the Arena league, concluding in 2006.
He then began a coaching career that has bounced between the Power 5 and the Southern California junior college scene. Chiaverini began coaching in 2007 at Mount San Antonio College, then joined UCLA's staff as a special teams assistant in 2009. He then joined the Riverside City College staff in 2010, where he remained until taking the special teams coordinator job at Texas Tech in 2014.
Chiaverini spent 2016-21 at his alma mater, at various points serving as wide receivers coach, recruiting coordinator, offensive coordinator, assistant head coach and interim head coach.
