Sources tell FootballScoop Joel Patten, senior collegiate scout, retired today from the Carolina Panthers after spending 28years in similar roles in the NFL.
Patten's career included scouting for the Washington Redskins in the early 90s and 2000s, helping to start the Texans franchise in 2000-2002, a stint with the St. Louis Rams, Director of Player Personnel with the 49ers from 2013-2015, before ending his career in Carolina.
Patten played eight seasons in the league with the Browns, Colts, Chargers and Raiders after playing collegiately at Duke.
