Chad Morris will be simultaneously one of the lowest- and highest-paid offensive coordinators in the SEC in 2020.
Auburn announced Thursday night that Morris signed a 3-year contract worth $735,000 annually.
That figure places him behind Alabama's Steve Sarkisian ($1.55 million), Tennessee's Jim Chaney ($1.5 million), South Carolina's Mike Bobo ($1.2 million), Georgia's Todd Monken ($1.1 million), Arkansas's Kendal Briles ($1 million), Kentucky's Eddie Gran ($875,000), Texas A&M's Darrell Dickey ($808,000) and LSU's Steve Ensminger ($800,000) and Scott Linehan ($800,000).
In fact, Morris will be paid less than the offensive line coaches at Georgia and Tennessee, and less than Kentucky tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow.
But Morris will make far more than any of his new peers in total, because he's still being paid by Arkansas for the next three years.
Morris signed a 6-year contract upon taking the Arkansas job on Dec. 5, 2017 and only coached two years of that deal. The Hogs owe him $2.45 million per year for the next four years, so the Auburn contract means that figure will be offset down to $1.715 million per year over the next three.
Also, Auburn announced that new offensive line coach Jack Bicknell, Jr., will earn $500,000 per year on a 2-year contract. That represents a $100,000 raise from what he earned for the same job at Ole Miss, and a $75,000 bump from what Auburn paid JB Grimes.
