2018 Changes
Joe Moorhead was hired as the new head coach at Mississippi State, and brought along with him Charles Huff to be his co-offensive coordinator / running backs coach and assistant head coach. Mike Villagrana, who played a big role in Penn State's recruiting success, also joined Moorhead in Starkville. Also lost from the 2017 staff is Josh Gattis, who recently took a job on Nick Saban's staff at Alabama as co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach.

That movement led to Ricky Rahne moving from tight ends / pass game coordinator to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and offensive line coach Matt Limegrover has added the title of run game coordinator.

New additions to the full-time staff include Phil Galiano (STC / assistant DL), Tyler Bowen (TEs), and David Corley (RBs). Galiano was a defensive analyst last season, and previously worked at Rutgers as special teams coordinator / tight ends coach, Bowen coached the offensive line at Maryland last year and was at Fordham as the offensive line coach and offensive coordinator prior that that, and Corley coached the running backs at Army.

Franklin still needs to make an official hire to replace Gattis, who worked with receivers. Additionally, Penn State has Villagrana's position and potentially another off the field position to fill as well.

Tenth Assistant
Franklin's staff is missing a wide receivers coach at the moment with the departure of Gattis. James Franklin is known to have his list of guys he would look to hire should an opening occur. No different here. We would expect Gattis' replacement to be announced in the next day or two.
