Albany adds CAA coaching veteran Diamond Weaver (Pittsburgh Steelers)

Diamond Weaver just might have the most unique perspective of any coach in the rugged CAA Conference.

After all, with Albany snagging Weaver to become the program's cornerbacks coach, he brings virtually unprecedented perspective.

Albany marks Weaver's fourth stop in the CAA, with him previously holding coaching positions at Rhode Island, Maine and Stony Brook.

Last year, Weaver coached the defensive backs at Edinboro. He also owns NFL experience from an internship with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016.

Weaver, who went from playing at the junior college ranks to a star turn at Akron, also played professionally with stints in the NFL, Canadian Football League and Arena League.

Albany had a breakthrough-campaign in 2023, winning 11 games and advancing deep into the FCS Playoffs, before sliding back to a four-win season in 2024.

The Great Danes are scheduled to open the 2025 season Aug. 30 at Big Ten resident Iowa.
