San Francisco 49ers principal owner John “Jed” York was arrested Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, and pleaded no contest Monday to two misdemeanor charges.
York faced charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. He posted $5,000 bond after the arrest and appeared in court Monday morning. The State of Ohio amended the one count of engaging in prostitution to a disorderly conduct charge before York pleaded no contest on Monday. He was also convicted of possessing criminal tools.
Court records show he was sentenced to two days in the Columbiana County Jail, to be served concurrently, with credit for one day already served. He was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines.
A cell phone was ordered returned to York, while $160 seized in the case was forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of the agreement.
East Palestine police stated that on August 23, 2026, the department assisted the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in the arrest of York at approximately 9:35 a.m. at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community off state Route 170. The police report itself contains limited information and directs further inquiries to the task force. WKBN reported it has requested additional details from the task force and has reached out to York’s attorney and the 49ers organization for comment, with no responses received at the time of the initial report.
York, a Cardinal Mooney High School graduate from the Youngstown area, has served as 49ers team president since 2008 and is the principal owner of the franchise.
Details surrounding the specific circumstances of the arrest remain limited; but undoubtedly will come out.
