Source: Nevada adding fast rising Division II assistant to staff (Featured)

As Jeff Choate continues to retool his offensive staff after a second-straight 3-win season, he's bringing back a former staffer that helped engineer a remarkable season at the Division II level.

Sources tell FootballScoop that former Nevada offensive analyst Jordan Loeffler is set to return and become the new tight ends coach for the program.

Loeffler will take over the position after a season as the offensive line coach at Northwood (D-II - MI). He also held the title of run game coordinator as well.

In his lone season on staff at Northwood, Loeffler's unit helped pave the way for a 9-3 season that ended with a trip to the Division II playoffs. That earned them an at-large bid into the playoffs where they drew defending national champions Ferris State in the opening round.

The appearance in the postseason was the first for Northwood since 2006, and among the notable achievements for Loeffler's unit was the ability to keep quarterback Ethan Hamby safe in the pocket as the team's standout quarterback went the entire regular season without throwing an interception. Hamby threw 22 touchdowns and had 289 pass attempts before throwing an interception to Ferris State in the second quarter of their postseason loss.

Before joining the Northwood staff, Loeffler was an offensive analyst at Nevada and also had stops at Pacific (D-III - OR) and as a graduate assistant at Fresno State.

A former four-year member of the Hawaii football program, Loeffler also coached at his alma mater, Hilo HS (HI) and had a stop at the junior college level as well.

Out west he will join a new-look offensive staff, led by Brett Bartolone who was hired as the new offensive coordinator back in mid-December. Bartolone served as the offensive coordinator under Deion Sanders at Jackson State and followed Prime to Colorado, where he coached tight ends. After being passed over twice for the offensive coordinator opening in Boulder in three seasons on staff, Bartolone opted for the opportunity to call plays for the Wolf Pack under Choate at Nevada.
