Sources confirm TCU has found their next offensive coordinator (Featured)

With Kendal Briles off to South Carolina to take the offensive coordinator job on Shane Beamer's staff, Sonny Dykes worked quickly to find his new offensive play caller.

Sources confirm to FootballScoop that UConn offensive coordinator Gordon Sammis is set to accept the same position with the Horned Frogs.

ESPN's Pete Thamel has also shared the news.

Over the past two seasons, UConn has won 18 games prior to the departure of Jim Mora, who left Storrs to take the head coaching job at Colorado State. A big part of that success has been the development of talent on the offensive side of the ball from electric and consistent skill players, to the bigs up front.

The last two seasons, UConn has seen two players drafted by teams in the NFL Draft, and this past fall they had a Biletnikoff Award finalist at receiver in Skyler Bell who was one of just two players in the country to haul in over 100 passes (101, good for second nationally), while racking up 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns (also second nationally). At quarterback, Sammis orchestrated an offense that allowed Joe Fagnano to have one of the most productive seasons in the country, throwing 28 touchdowns to just one interception on the season.

Currently the team's interim head coach heading into the bowl game against Army in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl set for December 27th, Sammis previously served as the offensive coordinator at FCS William & Mary (VA), and has also coached the offensive lines at Lafayette (FCS) and VMI (FCS) and coached tight ends at Columbia (FCS - NY) as well.

The opportunity at TCU marks the first coaching opportunity at the Power Four level since the former Virginia guard began his career at his alma mater as a graduate assistant, and then offensive line assistant before moving to tight ends for a year.
