Sources: Arkansas-Monticello hiring veteran FCS, D2 head coach to lead program (Arkansas-Monticello football)

Veteran head coach Gary Goff is expected to take over the program at Arkansas-Monticello, sources told FootballScoop on Thursday.

Goff will replace Hud Jackson, who will step back after 14 seasons leading the Boll Weevils to focus solely on his duties as the athletics director. UAM went 2-9 in 2025.

Goff most recently spent three seasons as the head coach at McNeese, where he went 10-23 in three seasons from 2022-24. Prior to that, Goff spent 2011-18 as the head coach at Tiffin University, a Division II school in Tiffin, Ohio, including a 9-2 mark in 2018. That season landed him the head job at Valdosta State, where Goff had two outstanding seasons. His 2019 team was undefeated until an upset loss in the second round of the Division II playoffs, and his 2021 squad (there was no season in 2020) won a share of the Gulf South Conference championship and reached the Division II national championship.

Prior to becoming a head coach, Goff was the offensive coordinator at Iowa Wesleyan, Southeastern Louisiana, New Mexico State, and West Virginia Wesleyan, and spent a season coaching wide receivers at Princeton.
