AFCA shifts dates of 2027 coaches convention (afca convention)

College football has a calendar problem. We don't need to tell you that. Friday's news won't come close to fixing that all-encompassing issue, it is a nice and needed change.

The American Football Coaches Association announced Friday that the 2027 convention has been bumped back roughly a month, to Feb. 14-16. The convention will remain in Indianapolis, and next month's convention will as scheduled, Jan. 11-13 in Charlotte.

"The decision comes directly from member feedback, as the AFCA continues to adapt with the evolving needs of the profession," the AFCA said in a statement. "The organization’s focus remains the same, creating a space where coaches can learn, connect, and grow together."

Of course, many are undoubtedly pointing out that Feb. 14, 2027, is already an important day for many. It's Valentine's Day, and it also happens to be Super Bowl Sunday. But, most importantly, Feb. 14 does not fall during a transfer portal window, or during the College Football Playoff.

Dates for the convention in 2028 and beyond "remain fluid as we explore all options," the AFCA said.
