Yoga with the athletics director. A denial of any kinds of ultimatums.
As only Lane Kiffin can do, Ole Miss's sixth-year head coach is navigating the epicenter of college football's coaching carousel superstorm.
That includes his early-morning recorded appearance Tuesday on Pat McAfee's eponymous sports and pop culture show.
While McAfee did not directly pin down Kiffin on his coaching options, which include a revamped deal at Ole Miss, as well as unofficial offers from both Florida and LSU, he did ask Kiffin if the Ole Miss administration -- led by athletics director and part-time yoga participant Keith Carter -- had demanded a final decision.
"Yeah, that's absolutely not true," Kiffin told McAfee. "There's been no ultimatum, anything like that at all. I don't know where that came from, like a lot of stuff that comes out there. Like I said, we're having a blast. I love it here. ...
"You pray for things. Our fans prayed for this type of thing. Now we're in the middle of it, so enjoy it. We're in a bye week, we get to watch half the country lose. There's no way we can lose. So enjoy it. And then you play the Egg Bowl and go dominate that and keep that Egg Bowl trophy home where it's been for a long time."
Kiffin, who declared "there's no team in America that has more fun than Ole Miss and our players," also revealed the wisdom shared amongst his coaches' group chat that includes Georgia's Kirby Smart and Texas' Steve Sarkisian.
"You lose one, you're out of the top 10," Kiffin said. "You lose two, you're out of the top 25. You lose three? You're fired.
"We just saw that with Brian Kelly. That's exactly the scenario that just happened."
Kiffin also discussed the book he's reading, "The Pivot Year,' from which he routinely shares passages on social media.
Tuesday's post included, in part, the following: "You make two lists, the positives and the negatives, and you weigh them. And if there is one thing on the left that overpowers the dozen things on the right, then you trust that."
At 10-1, Ole Miss is almost -- almost a lock for the second-ever 12-team College Football Playoff. The Rebels were ranked No. 7 last week and should climb at least one spot in tonight's rankings to No. 6.
Kiffin said the focus doesn't change.
"Yeah, I looked at it going into the Florida game like we have two one-game seasons," Kiffin said. "We've taken care of our business. There's too many variables.
"Now we're finding out depending on how things go, you've got to get to the top 10 teams. They could be 20 or 25 (the 11th and 12th teams selected as part of the five guaranteed bids to conference champions) with the current flawed system. You better make sure you're in the top 10 or you might get left out."
