ESPN announces Lee Corso's final College GameDay appearance

You're going to want to make sure you have some tissues handy for week 1 of the 2025 college football season.

While it's fully acceptable to cry some tears of joy as the football season starts, those tissues will instead be needed to mark the end of an absolutely historic era for College GameDay.

ESPN announced this morning, that after entertaining college football fans for the past 38 seasons, the legendary analyst's final show will be Week 1 of the 2025 season on August 30th.

That day Corso will don headgear in one final iconic moment on set.

The two teams that will face off for that distinction, and destination for the game will be announced later this spring.

Corso will turn 90 in August and has been an unforgettable part of the pregame show since it debuted in 1987. The first time he picked a headgear for a winner was back in October of 1996, when he picked the Buckeyes, marking the first of 430 headgear picks over the course of his career. ESPN's release shares 45 of those picks have gone to the Buckeyes, which is the record.

Fans of college football have known the day has been coming for the last several years, but it won't make coach Corso's final show any less emotional.
