In late January rumblings began to be heard that Florida A&M defensive coordinator Milton Patterson might get a shot with Mike Vrabel's staff at New England. That move came to fruition leaving a large hole to fill on James Colzie's staff.
As we turn the calendar to April, sources confirm Colzie has his new defensive coordinator.
Sources tell FootballScoop Colize has hired Kenwick Thompson as defensive coordinator / linebackers coach.
Thompson most recently served as assistant head coach / linebackers at UAB under Trent Dilfer. Thompson has previously coached at Texas Southern, San Jose State, Cal, Vanderbilt, East Carolina, Fresno State and UNLV. In nearly every former stop, Thompson served as associate head coach or defensive coordinator and has nearly always worked directly with the linebackers.
Colzie and Thompson will be looking to build on last season's 7-5 record, which was Colzie's first as head coach after taking over when Willie Simmons' departed following the 2023 season.
