Stony Brook (FCS - NY): Stony Brook University is accepting applications for Athletic Performance Volunteer Interns for the Fall 2015 semester. Opportunities include: completion of volunteer hours for an academic degree program, assisting in the supervision and training of Stony Brooks 18 Division I intercollegiate athletic programs and access to our strength and conditioning intern educational program. Preferred qualifications include: Matriculating through an exercise science or related academic program, current SCCC and/or CSCS certification, CPR certification and previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience. Minimum qualifications include: pursuing SCCC and/or CSCS certification and the desire to further one’s career in the field of Strength & Conditioning. This is an unpaid position. Interns will receive an educational experience that will prepare them for a future career in athletics at the Division 1 level. Better understanding of program design and coaching techniques and receive college credit if applicable. Buffalo: State University of New York at Buffalo Football Strength and Conditioning Staff is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for a Football strength and conditioning internship for the Fall 2015. Duties will include assisting the strength and conditioning staff with all aspects of the athletic performance program as well as daily maintenance of weight room and facilities. This is an UNPAID position, living and transportation arrangements will NOT be provided. If chosen for this internship opportunity you will gain valuable experience, be educated on training philosophy, Olympic lifting modalities, and how to structure and execute a successful strength and conditioning program. Minimum qualifications: Strong work ethic and desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Candidates should have or be working towards attaining their bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field and at least one of the following Certifications or in the process of acquiring these certifications: CSCS, SCCC. Preferred qualifications: Prior experience, Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree or enrolled in Bachelor’s or Master’s program, CSCS. Florida International: The Florida International University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach position. This position will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Panther Women’s basketball. The successful candidate will also be assigned other Olympic sport teams to be determined by the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Ideal candidates will have director experience at the collegiate level with basketball & soccer experience. A minimum of 3 years’ experience with collegiate or professional basketball programs. Must be certified: CSCS or SCCC. This position will start during 2015 fall semester and will be open until filled. Inquiries must be received ASAP. William Penn (D-III - IA): William Penn University is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach. This is a 12 month position starting August 31st with a two year commitment. Full tuition waiver and a monthly stipend are included. Candidates must be admissible to the graduate program with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Responsibilities include assisting with the design and implementation for a variety of William Penn University’s collegiate sports. The qualified candidate will be assigned sports based on his/her background and experience. The position will also assist the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, help with maintenance of the Randleman Fitness Center, and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Proven knowledge and experience with sport specific strength, speed, and agility programs is necessary. Candidates must hold a BA/BS in exercise science or a health related field and be working toward certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association or the SCCC through the CSCCa. Candidates with an athletic background or experience (volunteer/intern) in a collegiate strength and conditioning program is preferred. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and have the ability to effectively work with student athletes, the sports medicine staff, administrators and sport coaches.
