Notre Dame: The Strength and Conditioning department at the University of Notre Dame is currently accepting applications for internship positions for Summer 2016 semester. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all 25 Olympic Sport Teams at the University of Notre Dame. Qualifications: Candidates MUST be enrolled in an institution of higher education AND be receiving class credit. Candidates must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa, NSCA and/or USAW. Candidates must possess one year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletic experience. Candidates must have outstanding work ethic and attention to detail. Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Compensation: There is no monetary compensation provided. However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree. Interns will receive hands on experience with elite level Olympic Sport teams. Seattle University: Seattle University Sports Performance Department is accepting applications for 1-2 VOLUNTEER strength and conditioning intern positions for the Winter/Spring 2016 Quarters. Internship will begin January 4th and continue through June 13th, 2015. QUALIFICATIONS: A strong desire to pursue a career as a strength and conditioning coach; a strong work ethic; punctual; completed or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or a related field; current CPR/AED certification. Preferred: Currently possess or working toward CSCS, SCCC and/or USAW certification; previous internship/coaching experience. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting strength coaches in the implementation and supervision of strength and conditioning/sports performance programs; daily weight room maintenance and up keep; and any other duties assigned by the strength and conditioning staff. COMPENSATION: Interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field at the Division-I level, achieve necessary internship/practicum hours for SCCC and/or fulfill school credit if necessary. Clemson: Clemson University Department of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill Spring 2016 internship positions. Start date will be January 4, 2016. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Collegiate Strength and Conditioning setting. Individuals will also have the opportunity to work with all the Olympic sports that train out of the Jervey weight room. It may fulfill course credit if necessary. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, attending to daily maintenance of the training facilities, and professional development throughout internship program. Qualifications: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, and a strong desire to become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach. Pursuing NSCA, USAW, or CSCCa certification(s). Compensation: This is a non-paid volunteer position. Will gain experience as well as future recommendation for employment. Fordham: Fordham has a part-time assistant strength and conditioning coach position available. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design, implement, and evaluate sport-specific speed, strength, and conditioning for varsity teams as assigned by the Assistant AD. Analyzing nutritional habits of student-athletes and educating them on healthy dietary choices. Computer data entry of strength, speed, and conditioning test results, athlete nutritional analyses, and other data as necessary. Communicating with sport coaches and sports medicine staff regarding physical training issues and injury limitations of student-athletes. Anticipating potential risks of injury, taking measures to remove them, and, in the event of an injury, having the ability to implement emergency medical procedures. Compliance with all NCAA, Atlantic 10, Patriot League, and University rules and regulations. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. 1-3 years’ experience required, working in a collegiate strength and conditioning environment preferred. USA Weightlifting Level 1 certification, or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification, or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCC) certification required. CPR and First Aid certification required. Proven success in all areas of strength and conditioning programming, Olympic style lifts, plyometrics, speed development, conditioning, and flexibility.
