15 In-Season Block Destruction Drills By Position: While tackling may be one of the more time consuming in-season defensive fundamentals (and for good reason), how to properly get off blocks to make those tackles continues to be an underdeveloped skill. X&O Labs has found this partly because some coaches donβt know how to coach it, while others canβt find the time to work it in. Since different defensive positions see various types of blocks, X&O Labs segmented their research into which blocks the defensive line, linebackers and secondary most commonly see and, more importantly, how to defend against them. X&O Labs found the 15 most practical block destruction drills, from the NFL to high school levels, that can be applied in 3 to 5 minute practice blocks this season. See these 15 drills here.
St Augustine's University (D-II - NC): The school has announced that, pending an investigation, head coach Michael Morand has been placed on administrative leave without pay for two weeks, effective immediately.
