Southern University: The Southern University Strength & Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for the position of Strength and Conditioning VOLUNTEER INTERN. Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to; assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, teaching student athletes proper technique and equipment use, assisting the attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities and participation in projects and professional development throughout the internship program. Preferred candidates will have: A bachelor’s degree or be in pursuit of undergraduate degree in a sport science, exercise physiology, health and exercise science, kinesiology or related field of study, certification from one or more of the following (NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW) are preferred but not required but willing to obtain. Compensation: Experience in Strength and Conditioning at a collegiate level with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. In addition, college credits can be rewarded, if applicable. Potential mentorship opportunity to obtain CSCCa, SCCC certification will be available for some candidates. NO MONETARY COMPENSATION WILL BE PROVIDED. Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan University Sports Performance is looking for qualified strength and conditioning interns for the Winter 2015 semester. The internship will begin Monday January 5th- Monday April 20th 2015. This is an unpaid internship, however this is a great opportunity to gain experience. You will have educational opportunities through coach Ron Mckeefery’s internship curriculum. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; NSCA-CSCS or USAW certifications; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience is preferred. Having a background in performing and coaching Olympic lifts is preferred. Compensation: This is a non-paid position, but offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours towards a degree program.
