The George O'Leary story just got weird(er) (George O'Leary)

Don't lie folks. Don't ever lie.

I give job seekers advice nearly every day and I always tell them to be truthful. If you don't, it will come back and bite you.

No, friends, this isn't a story about George O'Leary's past dalliance at Notre Dame; this is about the charade that has been ongoing for the past 18 months at UCF. Allow me to attempt to explain...

In documents revealed today to USA Today, 18 months ago in April 2014 George O'Leary and UCF amended the "coaching term" of his contract by two years so that he would no longer be head football coach come January 4th 2016. Local reporters asked countless times about his contract but UCF refused to provide it. As you might recall, Fox Sports reported just before the 2014 season that George O'Leary was considering retiring that season and quite possibly even after their first game in Dublin vs Penn State. Well, we all know that didn't happen; but when pressed about it O'Leary repeatedly stated that he intended to coach for many years into the future...all the while knowing that his contract was over following the 2015 season.

As recently as just a few weeks ago when announcing he did not intend to remain on as athletic director, reporters pressing O'Leary on how much longer he intended to coach and continued to state that he had plenty left in him. Why? He knew his time was up following this season.

All feels very strange.

Per his contract, O'Leary will be paid $200,000 per year through March 2020 for his support as a special assistant....

For those who are into this sort of stuff, nice work by USA Today's Dan Wolken calling this prior to this season. He nailed it (despite UCF denying it).
