Pepperdine: The Pepperdine Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking applicants for the 2016 Fall Semester Internship Program. After candidate selection, interns will be responsible for weekly presentations to the full-time staff and weekly reading/research assignments. Interns will sit in on weekly staff presentations and participate in hands-on sessions directed by the strength staff. The subject matter includes weekly discussions and projects over assessing your athletes and pre-session readiness, understanding different models and methods of periodization and programming, resistance training variables, movement classification and selection, Olympic lifting, energy system development, power training, linear speed development, and other various topics. Responsibilities for the internship also include session set-up and breakdown, cleaning and upkeep of facility, spotting and working with specified student-athletes and/or small groups. You must be able to commit 20 hours per week throughout the semester to qualify. Our goal is to have interns advance in the field of strength and conditioning after completing our internship. Interns have completed our internship and transitioned over to other collegiate internships, accepted graduate assistant positions, as well as taken full-time jobs in the field. If you are serious about becoming a strength and conditioning coach, this internship will help you develop the necessary tools to advance in the field. Please note, this is an unpaid internship. Luther College (NAIA - IA): Luther College, a private, liberal arts institution, located in Decorah, Iowa seeks a Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. The coach will be responsible for: developing, organizing, and monitoring individualized strength training programs for members of the intercollegiate athletic teams; organizing and managing individual and team strength data; providing instruction in proper lifting techniques and speed development; leading team strength and conditioning sessions; testing and evaluating physical performance and improvement; and collaborating with athletic training staff to facility injury rehabilitation. The strength and conditioning coach will work collaboratively with the Legends Center Director to create a safe and clean environment, develop facility policies and procedures, and assure equipment is purchased and maintained. The Head Strength Coach will be able to hire a paid intern coaching position. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred in Exercise Science or related field; at least 1-3 years of relevant experience in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level; C.S.C.S., SCCC, or comparable certification; and experience with strength and conditioning software. Waldorf (NAIA - IA): Waldorf College Strength & Conditioning is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Assistantship for the 2016-2017 school year. The candidate will receive an online graduate tuition waiver and a $9,000 annual stipend for 12 months. This is a two year appointment and is not benefit eligible. Graduate assistant will report to the Director of Strength and Conditioning and will be responsible to work directly with all members of the athletic and Strength and Conditioning staff. Responsibilities assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning will include but are not limited to: The development and implementation of training programs for assigned teams, assessment and instruction of posture, lifting technique, multi-directional movement mechanics, flexibility/mobility drills, agility and coordination drills, plyometrics, balance drills, vision training, and testing/assessing modalities, strength room upkeep and equipment maintenance. Required Qualifications: Confirmed undergraduate degree in Exercise Science or related field; national certification or working toward certification. CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire.
