Portland State: Portland State University is looking for qualified applicants for full time internship positions during the summer 2016 terms. Aug 8-Dec 31, 2016. This is an UNPAID VOLUNTEER internship working with all aspects of the Portland State Strength and Conditioning Program. Responsibilities include coaching proper technique, motivating the athletes through off-season weight lifting and conditioning activities, maintenance and cleanliness of the new Viking Pavilion weight room, as well as anything else the director of strength and conditioning coach needs assistance with. The applicant will receive valuable experience at the division I level as well as knowledge that will serve them in the field. Requirements: Must be able to work long hours & weekends when necessary as well as any extra time that is needed to complete tasks; a high level of energy and enthusiasm for the profession, a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (or related field) or in final semester, a valid CPR/First Aid certification, and a desire to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred: A Strength and Conditioning or Weightlifting certification (or working toward obtaining a certification). Wisconsin: The University of Wisconsin Football Strength and Conditioning Internship program is currently accepting applications for the fall 2016 semester. The internship will begin August 29th, 2016 and will end December 10th, 2016. These internships are unpaid and non-coaching positions. Prerequisites: The candidate must be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field and be CPR and First Aid certified. Candidates must be considering pursuing or possess a certification through the CSCCa and/or NSCA. Those accepted will assist in the day to day operations of the facility, including: cleaning and maintenance duties, set-up and break-down of equipment for all workouts, data collection and potentially assist with catapult systems. The intern program consists of mock interviews, presentations to the staff, weekly assignments and evaluations. Candidates must possess strong work ethic, character, 100% commitment to the program and a desire to pursue a career in the strength and conditioning field. This is an opportunity to gain experience at the Division 1 level and to expand knowledge in this field. Lee University (Cleveland, TN): The Lee University Department of Strength and Conditioning is currently accepting applications for Volunteer Intern Strength and Conditioning Coaches. This is an unpaid position that will last for the duration of the 2016 Fall Semester. The position is estimated to start August, 29 2016. An educational Curriculum will be provided as well as practical experience working with all 16 teams that Lee University has to offer. Requirements include; at least 6 months to 1 year of related experience in the field, CPR Certified, must exhibit effective communication skills, have a relentless work ethic, positive attitude, and attention to detail. Responsibilities will be assigned as they are earned. Preferred qualifications include a completed Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field and a certification through either NSCA or CSCCa.
