Tennessee: Dave Lawson has been let go as Tennessee's strength and conditioning director. A UT spokesperson noted "philosophical differences" with the football staff as the reason for the departure and added that Lawson will continue to be paid through the duration of his contract (which ends in February), but his salary would be mitigated if he accepts another job. Lawson has been working with Butch Jones since 2007 when the two were at Central Michigan, and that relationship continued to Cincinnati, and then Tennessee.
Boise State: Boise State University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for a paid assistant intern for football. This position offers Division I experience and training in an educational environment and the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities will include: Assist the Football Strength and Conditioning staff in the supervision and training of BSU Division I intercollegiate football program; assist with daily administrative, cleaning and maintenance duties; assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every workout; and participate in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, and CPR First Aid certification. Applicants must have a strong work- ethic, enthusiasm and a desire to develop the characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred Qualifications: Certified through a nationally accredited certification (CSCS or SCCC). Applicants experience as a collegiate athlete in a highly competitive environment is desired. Rice: The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Rice University has vacancies for Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Interns for Olympic Sports and Football. These are unpaid positions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelorβs degree (Exercise Sciences or related fields). Candidates must also have extensive knowledge and coaching experience with Olympic-style lifting exercises. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS - current CSCCa or NSCA Coaching Certifications or the active pursuit of the CSCCa or NSCA Coaching Certifications. Recent Intercollegiate Athletic participation. POSSIBLE STARTING DATES - May 2016. **Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Interns will have the opportunity to complete the CSCCa 640 hour Practicum under an approved CSCCa mentor. William Penn (NAIA - IA): William Penn University is currently accepting applications for 2 - Strength & Conditioning Fellowships. These are 12 month positions starting June 1st. There will be a $6,000 stipend attached to the position. Responsibilities include assisting with the design and implementation for a variety of William Penn Universityβs collegiate sports. The qualified candidate will be assigned sports based on his/her background and experience. The position will also assist the Head Strength & Conditioning coach, help with maintenance of the Randleman Fitness Center, and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Proven knowledge and experience with sport specific strength, speed, and agility programs is necessary. Candidates must hold a BA/BS in exercise science or a health related field and be working toward certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association, SCCC through the CSCCa, and/or hold a USAW-Sports Performance Certificate. Candidates must hold a minimum 3.0 GPA within their undergraduate field of study. Candidates with an athletic background or experience (volunteer/intern) in a collegiate strength and conditioning program is preferred. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and have the ability to effectively work with student athletes, the sports medicine staff, administrators and sport coaches.
