Updated 4:34 p.m. ET Sunday: The hire is now official.
Will Muschamp will agree to become the next South Carolina head coach, according to a report from Sports Illustrated early Sunday morning. SI noted that the deal wasn't done; but was expected to be completed.
The offer to Muschamp came after South Carolina was turned down Saturday evening by Rich Rodriguez.
As FootballScoop reported previously, expect Muschamp to offer Travaris Robinson a senior staff position in Columbia and sources tell us that former Florida offensive coordinator Kurt Roper could be offered a spot as well.
Roper, now with the Cleveland Browns, was Muschamp's offensive coordinator in his final season of 2014. Robinson served as Muschamp's defensive backs coach for all four of his years in Gainesville and works in a similar capacity at Auburn presently.
Currently the defensive coordinator at Auburn and previous defensive play-caller at Valdosta State, LSU, Texas and the Miami Dolphins, Muschamp went 28-21 in four seasons as Florida's head coach, taking the Gators to the 2013 Sugar Bowl.
As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
