Next time you're asked "What do you think of your team?" Reflect on this response from a Hall of Fame head coach

Amos Alonzo Stagg was a pioneer in the early days of football. He led a number of programs including (what is now) Springfield College, The University of Chicago and The College of the Pacific, putting together career record at the college level of 314-199-35. Stagg's Chicago teams, which played in the Big Ten at the time, were twice recognized as national champions.

Small college coaches will recognize his name because the Division III title game has been named in his honor dating back to 1969. Stagg is one of only a handful of guys to make the College Football Hall of Fame as both a coach and player. He was inducted in the charter class of 1951.

Unlike coaching legends from football's early years like Vince Lombardi or George Halas, you don't see quotes from Stagg much nowadays, which is why this image being shared around on Facebook caught my attention.

The game has changed a lot since Stagg last coached, but that message will forever ring true.

Next time you're asked what you think of your team, hopefully you think of Stagg's response.
