Syracuse: Sources tell FootballScoop that Ohio State defensive coordinator Chris Ash is a strong candidate for the head coaching position at Syracuse. Ash has served as co-defensive coordinator at Ohio State the past two seasons, as DC at Arkansas in 2013 and at Wisconsin in 2011 & 2012. We have not heard a timetable for a decision and were told earlier today that other candidates were still in the process.
Mark Richt: Sources in the profession relay that Mark Richt has been contacted by multiple programs. Update> Richt, on his coaching show noted that he was contacted by 5 programs today. Sources tell us that South Carolina could wind up being the one; but there are others and with Richt it's all about fit. Jeff Ermann noted this afternoon that Maryland has reached out to Richt.
Jeff Brohm: Western Kentucky head coach Jeff Brohm has turned down the opportunity to interview twice, per Eric Crawford.
Miami Dolphins: Phil McGeoghan has been promoted to receivers coach.
Memphis: Sources tell FootballScoop that Barry Odom is meeting with Memphis officials tonight. On the other side of things, we understand that Missouri very much considers Odom a candidate for their opening. Seems logical this one should play out in the next 24-48 hours at the latest.
USC: Sources tell FootballScoop that Clay Helton is planning to make a number of staff changes following the season. One source told FootballScoop that Helton has spoken with Ed Orgeron. O and Helton are good friends and have a deep respect for each other. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this.
Miami: Per source, Greg Schiano interviewed yesterday with Miami officials. Sources tell us that Miami hopes to have made their selection no later than Wednesday.
UC Davis: SI is reporting that head coach Ron Gould has been fired. Update>UC Davis contacted FootballScoop to say the SI report is completely false and asked that we publicly correct their report.
UW LA Crosse (D-III): Head coach Joel Dettwiler has stepped down.
Southern Illinois: Sources tell us head coach Dale Lennon will not return. Read more here.
North Texas: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting TCU OC Doug Meacham has accepted the North Texas job. We are told that is premature. We reported earlier Monday Meacham is still considering the job, and a UNT source said Monday afternoon no hire has been made.
Chowan (D-II - NC): Chowan has an immediate need for an assistant coach (defensive backs), is available. This is a full-time (12-month) position that will report to the Head Football Coach and will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Universityโs intercollegiate football program. Preferences include collegiate coaching experience (or other significant coaching experiences) working with defensive backs, experience recruiting Southeastern states as well as video breakdown, analysis and editing with Hudl. Salary range is low to mid $30s with benefits and retirement. Start date will be as soon as possible. Bachelor degree required, Masters preferred. Tennessee: Sources tell FootballScoop that the Tennessee administration is preparing another extension / raise for Butch Jones.
USC: Pat Haden says Clay Helton's agreement is 5 years. Guaranteed. That's better.
Houston: Tom Herman has "agreed in principle" on new contract with Houston, per Joseph Duarte.
USC: ESPN's Brett McMurphy is reporting that Clay Helton received a three year deal with a two year option. Will update...
Texas: Charlie Strong is targeting TCU co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Sonny Cumbie as UT's next offensive coordinator according to Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods.com. At his presser this morning Charlie Strong said he has not spoken with Cumbie though.
North Texas: With UT chasing Cumbie, the North Texas job became a pivot point in the coaching market.
Iowa State: Per source, Illinois tight ends / special teams coordinator is joining Matt Campbell's staff at Iowa State as tight ends / recruiting coordinator.
USC: Clay Helton has been named head coach at USC. Sources tell FootballScoop that significant staff changes are expected before next season. Here is the story.
Minnesota: The Gophers have announced the hiring of Dan O'Brien as assistant defensive backs coach/co-special teams coordinator and assistant to the head coach. O'Brien has been with the program since 2008 as DFO and senior associate AD for football, and prior to that served as AD at Hamline University from 2002-07 and as head coach and AD at Concordia St. Paul from 1999-02.

Miami Dolphins: Multiple outlets are reporting that the Dolphins have fired offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Adam Schefter reports that Zac Taylor will take over as offensive coordinator.
Carson-Newman (D-II - TN):Carson-Newman has two open dates in 2016 (9/3 & 9/10) and 2017 (9/2 & 9/9) preferably for D-II teams, but would play D-1AA or NAIA. Interested in both home-home or one-year contracts. Please contact Coach Brock Pursley at bpursley@cn.edu.
Virginia Tech: Justin Fuente's contract is a 6-year deal with $3.2 million compensation in year one, per Andy Bitter. Fuente's base salary remains the same ($500,000) through the life of the contract with supplemental pay going up to $3.15 million by 2021. The salary pool for his assistants will be $3.4 million. VT will also reimburse Fuente the $500,000 that he owes Memphis to buyout his contract.
Texas Tech: According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, co-defensive coordinator Mike Smith and corners coach Kevin Curtis will not return next season.
