The Citadel: The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is currently accepting applications for two VOLUNTEER Strength & Conditioning (S&C) internship positions. The internship will last for the duration of the spring semester, January 12 – April 24. Interns will gain practical experience working in a Division I S&C environment under the guidance of a CSCCa approved mentor, with exposure to training, programming, and coaching. Other benefits include potential future references, course credit, and gear when available. Minimum requirements include CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications, an unwavering work ethic, a desire to become an industry professional, the ability to adjust to a demanding work schedule, and effective communication and leadership skills in a group setting. Candidates must need this internship for college requirement/course credit. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Exercise Science or related field. Other preferred qualifications include certification from a recognized governing body, (NSCA, ACSM, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous intern or coaching experience, personal involvement in a competitive sport, and proficiency with computer productivity applications. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, daily, weekly, and semester long professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the S&C staff. New Mexico Military Institute (JC): New Mexico Military Institute Strength and Conditioning is accepting applications for an internship starting January 2016. Responsibilities include assisting with daily operations, administrative and maintenance duties, and researching topics and various assignments as directed by the strength staff. COMPENSATION includes room and board. Intern may be eligible to receive undergraduate credit hours (if applicable), and may earn a letter of recommendation for future opportunities in the field. Intern will receive professional work experience to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Intern must be highly motivated, and have a strong work ethic and a keen interest in the strength and conditioning profession. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field; prior experience participating in college athletics; CSCS, CSCCA, or USAW certification; CPR certification.
