UConn: The University of Connecticut Sports Performance Department is accepting applications for volunteer football interns for summer 2014. This gratis position offers Division I experience and training in an educational environment and the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities will include: assist the Football Strength and Conditioning staff in the supervision and training of UConn’s Division I intercollegiate football program; assist with daily administrative, cleaning and maintenance duties; assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every workout; and participate in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing CSCS or relevant certification from one of the following: NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW and CPR –First Aid certification. South Alabama: The University of South Alabama Department of Strength & Conditioning is currently accepting applications for full-time intern positions for the summer semester. Successful candidates can expect to work full time for the duration of the 10-week internship starting May 22nd and ending July 29th. Application for the internship at the University of South Alabama should include a cover letter, resume, and have a bachelor’s degree or college senior at an accredited institution. Applications for the summer semester are due by April 1st. and should be sent to the address listed below. The intern must also be willing to work early mornings and late nights during the week and weekends. This is an UN- PAID position but free apparel will be provided to the student during participation. Prior to starting the internship, successful candidates must be willing to complete a liability waiver and with the potential of undergoing a background check per University of South Alabama policy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting the Full-time Strength and Conditioning Coaches with the design and implementation of sport specific strength, speed, agility and quickness programs. Additional responsibilities include weight room supervision, daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment, and any other duties as assigned by the Strength & Conditioning Coach. During the internship there will be various assignments given to help enrich their experience help develop them to become a better coach. These include but are not limited to; writing a year-round training program(s), developing a training philosophy, facility design, budgeting, staffing and a mock NSCA test. Northwestern State: Northwestern State University, a Division I member of the Southland Conference, is seeking applicants for the newly created position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Full-time coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level, preferred. Also preferred are the following certifications – NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and USAW. First aid/AED certification required. RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful candidate will report to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and will assist with all facets of the program, including but not limited to planning for and overseeing strength and conditioning sessions for NSU's 14 teams with direct oversight for teams as assigned and with special emphasis on Olympic Sports; assisting with administrative duties; maintaining a strong commitment to NCAA, Southland Conference, and State of Louisiana rules.
