Tour the renovated LSU weight room with director of strength and conditioning Tommy Moffitt

LSU recently renovated their weight room came with a price tag of about $2.5 million, and the new digs feature 24,000 pounds of new weights. The end product is as efficient as it is stunning.

If there was a way to make the weight room at LSU more efficient, chances are Tigers director of strength and conditioning Tommy Moffitt and his staff thought of it and have implemented it.

Check out Moffitt's tour of the updated facility in Baton Rouge below.

Moffitt explains in the clip that they moved the plates four feet closer to the actual lifting area, and while that mean nothing to some people, that slight adjustment by itself immediately allowed players to lift more efficiently. The flooring used throughout the facility is the only one of its kind in the entire world, and Moffitt notes that it's softer and more durable than what they've used in the past, and is much easier on they joints of players. Also added to the racks are rollers for guys to roll out sore calfs, hamstrings, and other large muscle groups and "trigger points". Probably the coolest addition, other than the nice LSU details and buzzwords around the facility, is the two stainless steel med ball walls. "No matter how hard we throw, we're not going to tear anything up," Moffitt notes. "So that's really special, and that's going to help us out a lot." Below are a few more pictures.
