If you've been to a coaching clinic in the Midwest, or even the East coast, chances are pretty good you've seen Mike Barwis' name on the docket of speakers. If you were smart enough, you attended his clinic talk, otherwise you were likely listening to guys rave about him and his approach in the weight room for the rest of the weekend.

To answer your question; yes, he is that good. His resume includes stops with the New York Mets (senior advisor of strength and conditioning), Miami Dolphins (strength and conditioning consultant), and is also the former director of strength and conditioning at Michigan and West Virginia.

Since leaving the college ranks, Barwis has founded his own gym based on his training methods, coined "Barwis Methods". Now him and his staff train teams, and individuals, from local high schools at one of their three facilities in Michigan (Plymouth, Canton, and Grand Rapids).

As if Barwis' resume isn't enough to attract viewers to a reality show, his personality, and that of his staff, is more than enough.

Get a real taste of what "American Muscle", which airs July 9th on Discovery, will look like below. I'll certainly be tuning in.
