Now, I don't want to be accused of studying Jimbo Fisher's physique, but I didn't really think the fifth-year Florida State head coach had 40 extra pounds to lose. But, he found them... and then lost them all.
"I've let myself go since I've been here. I've been making excuses and doing the wrong things. I got tired of it and said, 'I'm going to start eating right and I'm going to start exercising,'" he told the Tallahassee Democrat. "I feel much better and feel healthy."
In typical Jimbo fashion, he managed to turn his dieting into a coaching point.
"I got tired of making excuses. It's like I tell players, its priorities," said Fisher, of his motivation to strive for a healthier lifestyle. "Also, I started feeling bad. I think your energy level as a coach, your energy level to do things (improves when you're in good shape). And I think when you're in shape you're much more sharp mentally."
The Democrat notes that Florida State will most likely not make the customary trip to the White House that reigning national champions usually enjoy, so our first chance to see the svelter Jimbo probably won't come until ACC media days next month.
