Missouri: ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported this afternoon that "top candidates for Mizzou" are Justin Fuente, Tom Herman and Matt Rhule.

Missouri: Gary Pinkel will step down at the end of the year and is citing health issues as the reason behind the decision. Pinkel was diagnosed with lymphoma in May, and while he says he "still feels good physically," he feels now is the time to step away. The profession is losing a good one. Here's the update. Beat cancer Gary. Beat it.

Rutgers: Asked how he would evaluate his coordinators this season (first year offensive coordinator Ben McDaniels and second-year defensive coordinator Joe Rossi) Kyle Flood stated to the Asbury Park Press, "You probably need to leave those questions for the end of the season." Rutgers is 3-6 and offensively rank 74th or lower in every major offensive category, and 110th or worse in scoring defense, passing defense, and total defense.

Elmshorn (Germany): The Elmshorn Fighting Pirates, an amateur football team from northern Germany, is currently accepting applications for the positions of offensive coordinator and offensive line coach (two separate positions). These positions are directed to a young and upcoming coach who wants to gain international football experience, refine his system and broaden his horizon or a retired football coach who is looking for a challenge and an opportunity to pioneer football overseas. The salary is a stipend only and should not be the main motivation for this job opportunity. Round-trip airfare, accommodation and health insurance will be covered. The offensive coordinator should be experienced in a spread offense zone-read concept. The position starts in February and ends in August, possibly September. Applications should include: A cover letter outlining the applicant’s background, qualifications and vision for the position, a current resume, and three professional references. Please submit cover letter, resume and reference list or any questions you have to the head coach, Joern Maier at joern.maier@fighting-pirates.net.

Iowa Wesleyan (D-III): Iowa Wesleyan University is currently accepting applications for a head football coach. This position is a full-time, twelve month appointment with a comprehensive benefits package. The ideal candidate will have previous college coaching experience with a strong understanding of the DIII philosophy and its role at an independent comprehensive university. Additional responsibilities will also be assigned by the University Athletic Director. A Bachelor’s degree is required; however a Master’s degree is strongly preferred. Additional requirements include prior successful coaching experience at the college or high school level, with preference for NCAA Division III experience. Interested candidates should email the following (letter of application, resume or curriculum vitae, three professional references with names, titles, and contact information) to Steve Williamson, IWU Athletic Director at swilliam@iw.edu. Salary and benefits are competitive. No phone calls please; candidates will be contacted if search committee is in need of further information.

New Orleans Saints: Former Saint player, scout and now long-time radio color analyst Hokie Gajan has announced that he has cancer and plans to beat it. Gajan believes he will have a full diagnosis within the week and plans to begin treatment as soon as possible. "I hope to be in that booth calling the games with Jim [Henderson] for as long as I can stand him." Good luck Hokie.

Teamworks:"At D-II or D-III schools, you're coaching a couple of different positions, and you don't have a football operations guy. Teamworks alleviates a lot of stress and saves you a lot of time, so you can go back to focusing on the Xs and Os" - Phil Bokovitz, Saint Vincent College.

Coahoma (CC - MS): After two seasons, Coahoma CC is parting ways with head coach Karl Morgan. Athletic director Freeman Horton (a former football coach with the program) will move forward with the recruiting and coaching duties in the interim. The Tigers were 0-18 under Morgan.

Purdue: Yesterday, athletic director Morgan Burke told Big Ten Network that head coach Darrell Hazell will indeed return next season.Earlier this week, Hazell responded to reports that he would be back next season by noting that he and Burke would discuss that at the conclusion of the season.

Georgia: On Sirius XM Radio yesterday, Mark Richt noted that he isn't looking for any coaching jobs after this one, "This is for Katharyn and me. We've got our feet planted in Athens."
