St. Francis College (Brooklyn, NY): St. Francis College and Conditioning Department is seeking highly motivated, hardworking candidates for a strength and conditioning internship for the Fall 2014 Semester. Duties will include assisting the strength and conditioning staff with all aspects of the athletic performance program as well as daily maintenance of weight room. Intern will also be required to complete various educational assignments during the internship. This is an unpaid position. If chosen for this internship opportunity, you will gain valuable experience in working Division I college athletics, be educated on training philosophies, Olympic lifts, and how to structure and execute a successful strength and conditioning program. Qualifications include: strong work ethic and desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Candidates should have, or be working towards attaining their bachelor’s degree in a related field and pursuing CSCS. Augsburg (D-III - MN): The Augsburg College Strength and Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for volunteer interns for the Fall 2014 semester. Duties include: assisting with all aspects of training for all varsity sports, daily facility set-up and maintenance, assisting with supervision and skill demonstration during training sessions, data collection and input, the completion of internship course curriculum, and assisting with outside activities as assigned by S&C Coach. Applicants must be highly self motivated, able to follow directions, eager to learn, posess a strong work ethic, and have the ability to adapt to schedule changes. In addition, the successful applicants should be working towards earning their Bachelor’s degree and a certification from the NSCA-CSCS, CSCCA, and/or USAW. Experience as a collegiate athlete is also desired. Interns must be CPR/AED certified. This is an unpaid position. Interns will also receive college credit if applicable. Delaware: The University of Delaware Strength & Conditioning Department is accepting applicants for both Summer & Fall positions. This is an UNPAID position. If this is not Economically viable please do not apply. The successful candidate will work side by side with the Strength Staff on a training, programing, facility set-up, and day to day operations of a Division 1 Strength & Conditioning Program. Successful candidates will work have the opportunity to work in both Varsity weight rooms, and train with the staff on a daily basis. Saint Leo (D-II - FL): Saint Leo University is currently accepting internship applications for the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters. Qualified candidates should be planning on pursuing a career in Strength and Conditioning. This 17 week internship will afford candidates the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience and knowledge working with all (17) sports. During the internship there will be assignments assigned to allow interns the opportunity to better their coaching abilities. Examples include but are not limited to; writing a year-round training program(s), facility design, budgeting, staffing and a mock NSCA test. Primary Responsibilities: Assist with the supervision and execution of training programs. Professional development through the internship program. Maintain a journal and develop strength and conditioning portfolio while being responsible for one or more sports team TBD by your comprehension, prior experience, knowledge, and skill level. Qualifications; Junior or Senior, working towards completion of a Bachelor’s degree, as well as working toward a certification with CSCCA or NSCA. Ability to work 30-40 hours plus a week. Compensation This is an UNPAID internship but free apparel will be provided to the student during participation. The ability to earn class credit towards graduation requirements is also available.
