Notre Dame: The University of Notre Dame Sports Performance department is currently accepting applications for its Sports Science Internships for the Fall 2015, Spring 2016 and Summer 2016. A background in various sports science technologies and software’s along with Microsoft excel and statistics experience is preferred. The successful candidate will assist in implementing initiatives, tracking and logging data for the sports science program. In addition daily duties will include; implementing athlete monitoring systems, equipment maintenance, statistical analysis, data entry along with other assigned duties. This role may include a small level of exposure to hands-on strength and conditioning. Fall 2015 – Thursday 20th August to Friday 11th December. Spring 2016 – Monday 11th January to Friday 29th April. Summer 2016 – Wednesday 8th June to Friday 22nd June. Candidates must be enrolled in an institution of higher education and be receiving class credit. Candidates must have outstanding work ethic and attention to detail. Candidates must show initiative and be able to work efficiently on assigned tasks. No monetary compensation is provided along with this position. However, the position offers the opportunity to work with some of the best sports science technologies including: Catapult Sports GPS, Polar Heart Rate Monitoring Systems, Kistler Force Plates including Kistlers’ Bioware software to conduct force plate analysis. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in implementing these systems with specific Olympic sport teams and athletes. Florida Gulf Coast: Florida Gulf Coast University Strength and Conditioning Department is seeking qualified applicants for (2) graduate assistant positions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: design and implementation of sport specific strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams; demonstration and instruction of various weightlifting techniques; supervision of team workouts; assist with the maintenance and upkeep. Qualifications: (Required) – Bachelor’s degree, CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification and acceptance into graduate school. Must also have CPR and First Aid certifications; previous strength and conditioning experience at the collegiate level; experience in designing and implementing workout programs. UNC Charlotte: The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is currently seeking highly motivated candidates for the position of Intern Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Fall of 2015. The dates of the internship will be from approximately August 17, 2015 until December 18, 2015. This is an unpaid position; however, the COMPENSATION of this experience is as follows but not limited to: experience working with Division 1 athletes (every team except football and baseball), professional development opportunities, daily learning opportunities, resources and assistance in preparing for major certifications such as the CSCS, and professional references for future opportunities in the field. RESPONSIBILITIES are as follows but not limited to: assist strength and conditioning coaches in program implementation of each sport, design and implementation of individual workouts (when given the opportunity), set up prior to and break down following workouts, and routine organization/cleaning of the weight room. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS are as follows: open availability, strong work ethic, reliability, desire to become a strength and conditioning coach, desire to learn and be challenged, and daily positive attitude. PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS are as follows: internship to take place during the last semester of his or her undergraduate curriculum, working towards master’s degree in the field, and currently have or working towards a highly recognizable certification in the field.
