Kansas City offensive coordinator Doug Pederson will become the new head coach with the Philadelphia Eagles according to multiple reports this evening.
According to reports, one of the things that Pederson had in his corner was his relationship with Andy Reid, and familiarity with the front office. Reid is still well thought of within the organization, so having his support clearly seems to have helped Pederson's push.
As a player, Pederson enjoyed more than a decade as a profession quarterback, first with the New York/New Jersey Knights, then with the Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, and then back with the Packers. His playing career came to an end in 2004.
His coaching career started immediately after his playing career ended with a four year stint as the head coach at Calvary Baptist Academy. From there he went on to become a quality control coordinator with the Eagles (2009-2010), before being promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2011. When landed at Kansas City in 2013, Pederson joined the staff as offensive coordinator.
