The Bills are reportedly set to hire Rex Ryan (Featured)

It appears the first NFL head coaching position is about to be off the board, as multiple NFL outlets are reporting former Jets head coach Rex Ryan is close to accepting a similar post with the Buffalo Bills.

Ryan went 46-50 in six seasons as the Jets' head coach. He led the club to back-to-back AFC Championship appearances in his first two seasons, but did not reach the playoffs or finish above .500 in four seasons after that.

He'll take over for Doug Marrone, who opted out of his contract after going 15-17 in two seasons.

Ryan is set to become Buffalo's seventh head coach since Marv Levy's retirement following the 1997 season. None of the previous six won a playoff game.

Once the hiring is complete, the Bills will be the first domino to fall in the NFL coaching carousel. The Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders still have openings at this time.
