Jack West will not score a touchdown for San Clemente High School this year. In fact, he won't play a down. But he's already provided the play of the year for the Tritons' 2015 season.
In a scrimmage with El Toro, San Clemente coaches inserted West into the lineup to score a long rushing touchdown. He dodges token tackle efforts from El Toro defenders on his way to pay dirt and then is mobbed by his Triton teammates, a moment that West will undoubtedly remember for the rest of his life.
This is a great gesture by the San Clemente coaches to give West, a guy who spends his entire fall serving the team, a moment to feel appreciated. That one run will give West a sense of pride that will carry him throughout the season, and for a long time thereafter.
