Newberry College (SC): Newberry College (Newberry, South Carolina) Strength and conditioning is seeking applicants for a 10 Month part time Strength and Conditioning Assistant position. Compensation: monthly stipend plus meal plan, and the possibility of housing. Primary responsibilities include: Assisting with daily Strength and Conditioning operations; program for assigned sports. Maintaining the Strength and Conditioning facility, and consulting with the Athletic Training staff on return to play; and other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Must have a strong work ethic and strong desire to learn and excel in their career as a Strength and Conditioning Coach. Start Date will be July 1st, 2017. Job Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in an associated field of Study. Certification through the NSCA or CSCCA. Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required. A Valid driver’s license and access to a personal mode of transportation. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with programming for Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Field Hockey, and Women’s Lacrosse. Master’s degree in exercise science or related field. Lamar (FCS - TX): ASSISTANT STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH - JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide expertise, guidance, and training in the area of strength training and physical conditioning for all student-athletes and sports teams at Lamar University. Design and implement strength and conditioning programs that enhance athletic performance and reduce the risk of injury. Assist the strength and conditioning department by designing and implementing programs, regularly testing the student-athletes to determine the effectiveness of the programs and maintaining accurate records of student-athlete’s progress. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Assists with the management of the strength & conditioning department, Works directly with the head sport coaches to design and implement of strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes and sports teams, Assist with regular testing of student-athletes to determine the effectiveness of the programs, Maintain accurate records of student-athlete’s progress within the strength & conditioning department, Report the progress of student-athletes to the Director of Strength & Conditioning and the respective head coach, Assist with the scheduling and daily upkeep of all strength & conditioning facilities, Provide for the proper supervision of student-athletes to ensure that all student-athletes receive proper instruction on the safe usage of weight machines and free weights, Other duties as assigned by the Director of Strength & Conditioning. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science or related field; Master’s degree preferred, Current first aid, CPR and AED certification required, Knowledge of strength training, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition and cardiovascular conditioning required, Knowledge/commitment to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Southland Conference, Texas State University System and Lamar University required, Certification through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa-SCCC) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS) required, Certification through United States Weightlifting (USAW-Sport Performance Coach) preferred, Two or more years of strength and conditioning experience at the collegiate level strongly preferred, Experience coaching basketball and student-athletes of diverse backgrounds preferred, Demonstrate strong communication skills, Demonstrate the ability to motivate a variety of student-athletes on a daily basis, Demonstrate initiative and leadership qualities on a daily basis. William Jewell (MO): William Jewell College in Liberty, MO is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. This is a ten-month position beginning August 1, 2017. The position includes a monthly stipend, and tuition waiver for online master’s program of applicant’s choosing that is approved by William Jewell College. Responsibilities: Assist in all aspects of the William Jewell College Strength and Conditioning program, design and implement sport specific training programs for 3-5 assigned sports teams, ability to effectively teach and execute proper technique of lifts and drills, supervise team workouts in Head Strength Coach’s absence, assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Athletic Performance facility and Fitness Center, comply to all appropriate William Jewell College, Great Lakes Valley Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required, working toward or already obtained certification from an accredited strength and conditioning organization (NSCA, CSCCa, USAW), experience working in collegiate weight room setting, and possess CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
