Robert Morris: Robert Morris University is currently seeking qualified volunteer internship candidates for the 2019 Spring Semester. The strength and conditioning program will run from January 7th (date flexible) to May 3 rd . This is an unpaid position however, it is acceptable to have a part-time job to assist with personal finances. Chosen candidates can also have the opportunity to complete internship hours required for the CSCCa – SCCC exam under the mentorship of the Head Strength Coach. The daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for 16 DI athletic teams (including Football & Ice Hockey), Attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities, Professional development throughout the semester, Any other tasks assigned by the strength and conditioning staff. Interns will gain hands on coaching experience in a collegiate setting, education in program design and application, have the potential to earn future recommendations for career opportunities, have the potential to advance within the department and/or receive college credit if applicable. The internship program’s goal is to advance the intern’s future in the strength and conditioning profession. Minimum Qualifications: Strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm. Effective communication skills. Desire to become a strength and conditioning coach. First Aid, CPR & AED certified. Preferred Qualifications: Pursuing or have attained a bachelor’s or master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology or related field. Pursuing or have attained relevant certifications: CSCS, USAW, FMS, etc. Previous coaching experience in a collegiate, professional, high school or private sector setting. Competitive collegiate involvement. It is strongly advised that all potential candidates make sure that this internship is economically feasible before applying. Yale: Yale University Sports Performance is looking for candidates to fulfill internship positions with the Football team during the Spring 2019 semester. This internship does not provide monetary compensation, but can be used as continuing education credits (2.0) through the NSCA, or College credit. Along with credit, the internship will provide the opportunity to work hands on with a Football team that won the 2017 Ivy Championship and finished #24 in the nation. Along with the Football team, Yale has 30 teams that interns will also have the opportunity to work with for added experience, including the 2018 National Champion Men's Lacrosse team. This is a rigorous internship with hours that would closely mimic that of a full time strength coach. There is a classroom component to this internship, that will include lectures on program design, theory, nutrition, athletic testing, and more. Assignments will be given to test understanding of material and will be required for completion of the internship. The goal of this internship is to ready individuals for full time positions upon completion. Requirements: The ideal candidate would be working towards their Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree. Students who have recently graduated are also welcome to apply. A SCCC / USAW / CSCS certification is preferred but not required. Texas Southern: The Texas Southern University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for Volunteer Intern Strength and Conditioning Coaches for the Spring semester of 2019. Projected dates of the Internship are January 9 th through May 10 th 2019 with the possibility of an earning an extension. This is a voluntary position and will receive no monetary compensation. Priority consideration will be given to Candidates who possess or are working towards Certification through the NSCA or CSCCa and are CPR / First Aid / AED Certified. Desired attributes include outstanding organizational and computer skills, great work ethic and professionalism. Previous coaching and / or playing experience is a plus. Verbal communication skills with diverse populations is a must. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Set up and breakdown of training sessions for all sports, general maintenance and upkeep of Athletic Facilities, communication with Sport Coaches, Athletic Training staff and Administration, assist with Olympic Sports with the possibility of working with Football. Added responsibilities as earned, such as, input into program design and leading groups / teams. Our goal is to develop COACHES. Selected candidates will receive valuable experience in the day to day operations of a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Department, program design and implementation, nutrition, speed, agility and explosive training. Warner University: This position functions as part of the Athletics Department and is responsible for the oversight of the strength and conditioning for all athletes and management of the fitness center. Responsibilities: Instruct athletes in safe strength and conditioning in order to develop athletic potential. Manage all aspects of the fitness center, including scheduling, supervision of staff, and liability minimization of equipment and instruction. Design and implement an annual plan and periodization model that includes all Warner athletes. Establish policies and procedures for athletes to facilitate the daily operation of the facility. Select, organize and administer testing procedures in a manner that ensures the collection of valid and reliable performance charts. Understand human physiology, anatomy and nutrition so that training programs are appropriate depending on the sport. Recognize nutritional factors that positively impact health and performance. Possess knowledge of performance-enhancing substances and provide preventative counseling to athletes on the negative side effects of substance use. Oversee and monitor a strength and conditioning budget under the direction of the Athletic Director. Other duties as needed. Qualifications: Supportive of Warner’s mission, vision and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle, and demonstration of character in keeping with biblical models. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Fitness or related required. Master's degree preferred. Experience helping individuals achieve fitness goals Strong customer service skills with a professional demeanor. High level of teamwork as the position necessitates working closely with all coaches in the athletic program. Strong motivational skills to assist athletes in reaching full potential.
