Arkansas: The University of Arkansas Strength and Conditioning Football Department is accepting applications for the Spring of 2019. This is an UNPAID internship. If this is not a financially feasible opportunity, please do not apply. This volunteer internship will expose participants to all facets of a Southeastern Conference Strength and Conditioning Football Department. Volunteer interns will complete both an academic and practical curriculum. Academic experiences include: weekly reading assignments, program design education, daily meetings/discussions with full time staff members, and weekly evaluations. Practical experiences include: hands on experience in a Division I Strength and Conditioning Department, staff meetings, daily maintenance, implementation of sports technology and record keeping. Volunteer interns will receive experience working in a Division I training environment, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, CSCCa internship hours, and receive college credit if applicable. Intern qualifications include: enrollment in a bachelor’s/master’s program in exercise science or related field, punctuality, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic. Preferred qualifications include: SCCC or CSCS certification, CPR/First Aid certification. Syracuse: Syracuse University Department of Athletic Performance for Football is accepting applications for a VOLUNTEER Intern Strength and Conditioning coach position for the Spring 2019 semester. This is an UNPAID volunteer position, but academic credits can be applied towards an Exercise Science or related degree program if applicable. The main responsibilities of this position will include: involvement in the supervision of safety during training sessions, assisting with daily administrative, maintenance items, and operations for Football. This position will provide: valuable practical experience working with Division 1 collegiate football student-athletes and coaches, an extensive professional development program, CSCS prep, and multiple opportunities to expand network connections within the profession. Qualifications: Seeking a college degree or completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and current CPR certification. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in an exercise related field and CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification. Evidence of project completion, consistent attention to detail, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment will be highly considered. All employees must comply fully with all NCAA, ACC (or other conference) and Syracuse University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Houston: The University of Houston Sports Performance Department is accepting applications for the SPRING 2019 Volunteer intern position. The official start date for this position would be JANUARY 7th and continue through MAY 17, 2019. This is an UNPAID, position and offers Division I experience and training in an educational environment and the opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Responsibilities will include: assist the Olympic Sports Performance staff in the training of the University of Houston Division I Track & Field, Women’s Soccer & Volleyball program, along with various Olympic sports; assist with daily administrative, and maintenance duties; assist in the set-up and break-down of equipment for every workout; spotting athletes and participate in weekly projects and assignments for the duration of the internship. Minimum Qualifications: must have a strong work-ethic, experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning environment, and a desire to develop the characteristics necessary to become a successful strength and conditioning coach. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing CSCS or relevant certification from one of the following: NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW and CPR –First Aid certification. Yale: Yale University Sports Performance is looking for candidates to fulfill internship positions with the Football team during the Spring 2019 semester. This internship does not provide monetary compensation, but can be used as continuing education credits (2.0) through the NSCA, or College credit. Along with credit, the internship will provide the opportunity to work hands on with a Footballteam that won the 2017 Ivy Championship and finished #24 in the nation. Along with the Footballteam, Yale has 30 teams that interns will also have the opportunity to work with for added experience, including the 2018 National Champion Men's Lacrosse team. This is a rigorous internship with hours that would closely mimic that of a full time strength coach. There is a classroom component to this internship, that will include lectures on program design, theory, nutrition, athletic testing, and more. Assignments will be given to test understanding of material and will be required for completion of the internship. The goal of this internship is to ready individuals for full time positions upon completion. Requirements: The ideal candidate would be working towards their Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree. Students who have recently graduated are also welcome to apply. A SCCC / USAW / CSCS certification is preferred but not required.
