Buffalo: Former Louisiana-Lafayette head strength coach Lewis Caralla has been named the head strength and conditioning coach at Buffalo.
Notre Dame: The Strength and Conditioning department at the University of Notre Dame is currently accepting applications for internship positions for the Summer 2018 semester. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all 25 Olympic Sport Teams at the University of Notre Dame. Qualifications: 1. Candidates MUST be enrolled in an institution of higher education AND be receiving class credit. 2. Candidates must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa, NSCA and/or USAW. 3. Candidates must possess one year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletic experience. 4. Candidates must have outstanding work ethic and attention to detail. 5. Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Compensation: There is no monetary compensation provided. However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree. Interns will receive hands on experience with elite level Olympic Sport teams. Incarnate Word (FCS - TX): The University of the Incarnate Word Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for two VOLUNTEER interns for the Spring of 2018. The internship tentatively begins February 12, 2018 and will approximately end May 11, 2018. This is an unpaid position; however, the position offers the opportunity for advancement in the field of strength and conditioning through earned future recommendation as well as the opportunity to become a seasonal intern for the Summer of 2018. The interns that are selected will also accumulate internship hours toward CSCCa Certification under a certified mentor and/or required college internship hours. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the daily implementation of spring training for the designated teams, set up and breakdown of daily strength and conditioning training sessions, routine maintenance, cleaning and organization of the training facility, data collection, as well as participation in a vigorous internship curriculum. Prerequisites include completion of or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, working towards CSCCa or NSCA certification, along with, preferably collegiate athletic playing experience. Yale: Yale University Sports Performance is looking for candidates to fulfill internship positions with the Football team during the Summer 2018 semester. This internship does not provide monetary compensation, but can be used as continuing education credits (2.0) through the NSCA, or College credit. Along with credit, the internship will provide the opportunity to work hands on with a Football team that has just won the 2017 Ivy Championship and finished #24 in the nation. Along with the Football team, Yale has 30 teams that interns will also have the opportunity to work with for added experience. This is a rigorous internship with hours that would closely mimic that of a full time strength coach. There is a classroom component to this internship, that will include lectures on program design, theory, nutrition, athletic testing, and more. The goal of this internship is to ready individuals for full time positions upon completion. Requirements: The ideal candidate would be working towards their Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree. Students who have recently graduated are also welcome to apply. A SCCC / USAW / CSCS certification is preferred but not required. No previous experience is required but strength room experience or collegiate athletic history is preferred.
