Source: LSU offensive line coach Jeff Grimes leaving for BYU (LSU)

Source tells FootballScoop Wednesday night LSU offensive line coach Jeff Grimes plans to accept the offensive coordinator job at BYU pending formal clearance which is expected in the next 24 hours.

Prior to joining the LSU staff for the 2014 season, Grimes previously coached offensive line at Virginia Tech, Auburn, Colorado, BYU, Arizona State, Boise State and Hardin-Simmons. This will be Grimes first time serving as offensive coordinator at the collegiate level.

Source tells FootballScoop Grimes is expected to remain with LSU's staff through their bowl game and then head to Provo (Spain? Utah.).

At BYU, Grimes will take over play calling duties from Ty Detmer who was recently dismissed. Source tells FootballScoop BYU is expected to make another addition to the staff in addition to Grimes.

Update> Source tells FootballScoop LSU plans to hire LA Chargers assistant offensive line coach James Cregg as their new offensive line coach. Bruce Feldman has tweeted the same and Ross Dellenger has also confirmed the planned hire. Cregg coached with Orgeron at both Tennessee and USC (2010 - 2013).
