The team has now announced the move.

Kliff Kingsbury is a strong candidate to land the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job, a source told FootballScoop on Tuesday.

Kingsbury has been with Cardinals brass throughout the day, and sources indicated the team brought him in not as a simple meet-and-greet, but with a strong chance of offering him the job.

Sources tell FootballScoop GM Steve Keim researched a number of college coaches over the past month including Kingsbury, Dana Holgorsen and others, believing the offensive innovation in the college game is the future of the league.

One month ago Kingsbury accepted the offensive coordinator job at USC. He previously had served as head coach at his alma mater Texas Tech since the 2013 season.

As a college coach, Kingsbury worked with quarterbacks Johnny Manziel, Davis Webb, Baker Mayfield, Case Keenum and Patrick Mahomes, among others.
